Crowding and Spacing Correction

Crowding occurs when there is insufficient space in the jaws for all teeth to align properly, leading to twisted or displaced teeth. It can result from mismatched tooth and jaw sizes or oversized teeth. Factors like early or delayed loss of baby teeth and improper tooth eruption can contribute to crowding. On the other hand, spacing refers to excessive gaps between teeth due to small tooth size or protruding, missing, or impacted teeth. Treatment options for spacing include braces and clear aligners.

Open Bite Correction

An open bite occurs when the top and bottom teeth do not touch at the front or back of the mouth when the jaw is closed, creating a gap between them. This misalignment, known as malocclusion, can lead to difficulties in biting, oral hygiene problems, and tooth decay. Treatment options such as braces or clear aligners can help correct an open bite. Contact our office to schedule an appointment for you to address this issue and improve your smile and bite.

Overbite Correction

Overbites are common in adults, often caused by jaw or teeth size and formation. If left untreated, overbites can lead to crooked teeth and other dental issues. Overbites are a type of malocclusion, where the upper and lower teeth do not align properly, leading to difficulties in chewing and biting. Misaligned teeth can result in worn enamel, cracked teeth, jaw pain, and other symptoms. If you suspect an overbite, make an appointment for evaluation and treatment.

Retainers

After clear aligners are removed, the "retention" phase begins to prevent teeth from shifting back. A custom-made retainer, either fixed or removable, is used to maintain the improved position of the teeth. Retainers are typically made of transparent plastic for comfort. Compliance with wearing the retainer as directed is crucial for successful treatment outcomes. Failure to wear the retainer properly can result in treatment setbacks or prolonged duration.
